Inclusive Aotearoa Collective (IAC)
The vision of the Inclusive Aotearoa Collective: a country where everyone has a place to stand.

Tūrangawaewae is a powerful and beautiful concept about connection, kinship and belonging. It describes an Aotearoa New Zealand founded on the partnership of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, that provides a place to stand for all.

Belonging is a human need that improves mental well- being and physical health. It is the third tier on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, ful lled by trust, friendship, social connections, a giving and receiving of love, compassion and kindness.

March 15, 2019 held up a mirror to Aotearoa New Zealand. It showed the fragility of our shared conception of ourselves as a peaceful and progressive nation.

For some people, the depth of divisiveness, intolerance and hate was seen for the first time. For many others that day con rmed, in the most terrible way, a reality they already lived with.

For the large majority of New Zealanders, March 15 was a moment that uni ed us in aroha, in grief, in our conviction that this must never happen again. As it did, the mirror also showed us the best in ourselves. It is now time to build on that impetus, turning it into sustainable change.
