Four upcoming webinars will showcase the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) consumer
protection tools and materials. Frontline staff and volunteers can use Your Money, Your Goals resources to help underserved consumers meet
their financial goals by increasing their knowledge and skills. Sessions will
help people to better understand and assert their rights in the financial
marketplace and to avoid predatory actors and scams. The trainings include:
- Booklets to Help Talk About Money, Thursday, February 2, 2023, 3:00-4:00 p.m. Eastern. Use these bright, interactive booklets to help people address common financial stressors. The four booklets cover being behind on bills, getting a handle on debt, understanding credit, and safeguarding savings.
- Focus on People with Disabilities, Thursday, February 9, 2023, 3:00-4:00 p.m. Eastern. This guide contains tips, information, tools, and skill-building resources for people with disabilities and organizations that serve the disability community. The training will be in English and will feature 11 key tools that are available in Spanish. Additional CFPB resources in languages other than English will be highlighted, as well as the Bureau’s complaint function. Topics will include: protecting your identity and avoiding scams, what to do when debt collectors call, requesting and reviewing credit reports, prioritizing bills and more.
- Focus on Reentry, Thursday, February 23, 2023, 3:00-4:00 p.m. Eastern. This guide is designed to address financial issues unique to criminal justice-involved individuals and their families. Materials can be used while someone is awaiting trial or sentencing, in jail or prison, or following release and in community settings.
You may register for a single session or the whole four-part series. Each session will also review how to submit a complaint to the CFPB to get help with a financial product or service. The materials featured in these trainings are available for free in print, electronic, and video formats.
