2019-2020 PTA Executive Board
On behalf of Beach Elementary’s PTA Nominating Committee, we would like to inform you of the upcoming PTA officer elections and invite parents to consider becoming involved in PTA activities during the 2019-2020 school year.

Our goal is to elect officers and committee chairs who will work to build the Beach community. Specifically, we are looking to select a team of candidates who wish to build relationships among BES families and ensure that each parent has opportunities to participate and feel included in the school community.

The deadline for submitting applications is May 1, 2019. The nominating committee will review all applications and contact all interested parents.

President: The president is an elected officer and member of the executive committee. Serving as president ofa PTA includes the responsibility to lead that PTA toward specific goals chosen by its members. Thegoals must be consistent with the policies and purposes of the PTA. The president is the presidingofficer and the official representative of the association. The president will approve allcommunication from the PTA in conjunction with the principal. The president will take ownership ofall decisions made by the board of directors and covey the decisions to the members. The presidentwill preside over the monthly board of director’s meetings general, membership meetings, andexecutive committee meetings as scheduled. Attendance at PTA events is expected. This is arequired PTA position.
1st and 2nd Vice President: The vice presidents are elected officers and member of the executive committee. The primaryresponsibility of the vice presidents is to assist the president and help lead the PTA toward specificgoals chosen by its members. The goals must be consistent with the policies and purposes of thePTA. This position can be used to gain understanding of the requirements and duties of thepresident. Attend meetings as requested by the president. Help and oversee the committees thatmakeup the PTA as designated by the President. The vice presidents must attend the monthly boardof director’s meeting, general membership meetings, and executive committee meetings asscheduled. Attendance at PTA events is expected.
Secretary: The secretary is an elected officer and member of the executive committee. Keep an accurate,concise, permanent record of the proceedings of all meetings of the association and of the executivecommittee, board of director’s, and general membership meetings. The meeting minutes are thelegal record of the PTA and the original copy of the minutes is known as the master copy. Thesecretary also sends notices of meetings to board of director’s and/or association members, asdirected. Read correspondence at board of director’s meetings, as requested by the president. Thisis a required position on the PTA and is an elected position. Monthly board meeting attendance,general membership meetings, and executive committee meetings as scheduled.
Treasurer: The treasurer is an elected officer, member of the executive committee, and the authorized custodian of all funds of the local PTA. The treasurer’s duties include keeping records and preparingreports to comply with local, state and federal laws. The treasurer is responsible for all state andfederal filings. The treasurer must present the proposed budget to the board of directors forsuggestions and approval. The treasurer must also present the budget to the general membershipfor approval. The treasurer is responsible for paying bills and depositing money in a timely manner.Attendance at monthly board of directors meetings, general membership meetings, and executivecommittee meetings is expected. Availability to disperse and collect funds at PTA events isexpected.
