EcoLearners Portland SYB invites ambitious and dedicated students aged 18 and under to lead the way in environmental activism, education, and restoration.

As a youth-led chapter of EcoLearning Together, a nonprofit organization partnered with the UN Decade of Restoration, EcoLearners Portland SYB empowers young leaders to make a tangible impact locally and globally.

What Does EcoLearners SYB Do?
Our branch focuses on:

  • Organizing Events: Lead restoration efforts, educational workshops, and initiatives to engage fellow students in environmental activism in the Portland Area.
  • Managing Funds: Oversee fundraising activities and ensure effective use of resources for Portland initiatives.
  • Community Coordination: Collaborate with the Portland General EcoLearners Branch and local organizations like Portland Parks and Recreation to participate in events such as tree-planting and habitat restoration.
  • Collaboration with Schools: The Portland SYB would work on finding schools to collaborate and host events with to get more students part of the environmental movement. 
  • Inspiring Activism: Motivate and mobilize peers to join the fight against the climate crisis.

About the Role
The Director of the Portland SYB Branch will:

  • Serve as the main point of contact between SYB and EcoLearners General Branch.
  • Organize and lead regular meetings and events.
  • Collaborate with the city of Portland and local partners for environmental initiatives.
  • Oversee recruitment, mentorship, and growth within the branch.
