East River Nursery Order Form                                             Maple Trees
Use this form to place your order for trees from our wide selection.  Orders placed by 10:00 am, Monday-Saturday, are usually available by the end of that day, depending on availability of the items.  We will gather the items selected and then call you to confirm the order.  You can pay with your credit card and pick them up curbside.  

If you need larger sized quantities for items, or have questions about availability, you can call the store directly at 605-352-4414 or email at erivernursery@hur.midco.net.
Please keep in mind that product availability will depend on inventory levels and time of year.  We cannot control product shortages that may occur, due to shipping or growing delays.

When would you like to pick up your order?  Trees are usually ready by the end of April or beginning of May, depending on the weather.  You can give an approximate date and we'll keep you posted on when they items are ready.  Please add special instructions in the comment section.

Maples need special treatment when planted in South Dakota. They may have issues with soils/water that has high pH.   Pay attention to soil conditions and location for the tree.  In Eastern South Dakota, maples do relatively well, the further west you go, the harder it is to grow maples.

Maple Griseum Paperbark- This attractive small- to medium-sized ornamental tree is excellent for a small area or for adding structure to a mixed perennial garden. Paper-barked maple is a great plant for four seasons. Winter and spring are highlighted with cinnamon-colored, exfoliating bark that is accentuated by light snow, while summer brings delicate leaves with a bluish cast that can turn bronze in fall. 25' tall
Maple Miyabei State Street- Miyabe maple is a medium-sized, deciduous tree with a dense crown and round to loosely conical habit. Trees grow moderately rapidly to 30-40 feet in height with a spread equal to height. The canopy casts dense shade. Miyabe maple has a graceful habit at maturity. Oval habit with yellow fall color.
-Maple Columnar Norway- An old French cultivar which has an egg-shaped crown at first. When maturing the branches grow more upright and it becomes a columnar shaped tree.  The columnar crown makes this tree very suitable for narrow streets and avenues.   The leaves are lobed and are of the species. When unfolding they have a brown-red color, in autumn they turn yellow. The inflorescence is profuse and the flowers are hugely visited by bees.  50'x20'
Maple Crimson Sentry- This bud sport of Crimson King shares the deep purple leaf color of its parent, but matures to a much smaller ultimate size. A very compact, heavily branched upright tree.  Up to 30' tall, slow growing
-Maple Crimson Sunset-The Crimson Sunset Maple’s (Acer truncatum x platanoides 'Crimson Sunset') upright, deep purple leaves give you the urge to kick back and relax. You could sit there for hours and still not get enough of this magnificent tree.

Most purple-leafed trees can’t maintain their beauty throughout the scorching heat, but this one thrives in it.

The Crimson Sunset Maple is known for its incredible heat tolerance and loves the hot summer months where it’s purple leaves soak up the warm sun.  30'x25'

Maple Deborah- This tree has a wide pyramidal crown and reaches up to circa 15 m. 'Deborah' is an improved variety of A. p. 'Schwedleri'. The leaf unfolds in spring beautifully purple red, later it turns dark green. The tree thrives well in urbanised areas. In addition it is also used as an avenue tree.

Maple Emerald Lustre-Large round full sized tree, beautiful dark green summer foliage, orange yellow fall color depends on soil, tree health, and weather.  50' high x 40' wide.
Maple Emerald Queen- The Emerald Queen Norway Maple tree is an excellent upright, oval shaped tree. It has beautiful dark glossy-green leathery foliage and a bright and sunny yellow fall color. Inconspicuous greenish-yellow flowers appear in clusters before the foliage in spring. Although small, the flowers do have an ornamental value to them.
Maple Royal Red-Gorgeous foliage all summer long. Slower growing red leafed maple that does well in city/town lots, but needs major winter protection in the country.  Grows 35' High x 30' wide.
-Maple Variegated Norway-Interesting cream/green leaves makes this tree an interesting accent in the landscape.  Watch for stems/shoots that revert to solid green, they need to be pruned out of the tree, or eventually the whole tree will revert back to green leaves.  Grows 40' High x 30' Wide.
Maple Silver-Extremely fast growing maple, sometimes up to 6' per year.  Because of the quick growth, this tree's wood is weak and brittle, causing it to lose branches in wind storms.  Plant this one away from buildings/structures if you are looking for a quick growing tree.  We advise planting a variety of species for best results in your yard.
-Maple Red Sunset-This red fall colored maple reaches to about 45-50' when fully grown.  Slower growing at only 6"-12" per year.  Does not tolerate high ph soils, may need some winter protection.  Better in town or protected shelterbelt areas.  
Maple Fall Fiesta Sugar-This red/orange fall colored maple reaches to about 45-50' when fully grown.  Slower growing at only 6"-12" per year.  Does not tolerate high ph soils, may need some winter protection.  Better in town or protected shelterbelt areas.  
Maple Hot Wings Tartarian-Smaller maple that is extremely hardy, one of the best for difficult spots.  Bright red seeds clusters in August with orange/yellow fall color makes this a great accent plant for the yard.  25' High x 20' wide.
CALL FOR AVAILABILITY-Maple, Armstrong-This is an upright growing form of Red Maple exhibiting wonderful red fall color. It enjoys being in or near turf areas as it thrives in moist soil. Great for smaller yards and tighter spaces.  30' tall x 25' wide
Maple Autumn Blaze-this maple is a cross between Silver Maple and the Sugar Maple, giving us relatively fast growth (2' per year) and great fall color.  Gets quite large, 50' High x 40' wide.  
Maple Sienna Glen-this maple is very similar to Autumn Blaze, perhaps a bit more narrow growing to 50' High x 30' Wide.  Great fall color.
