Clay Community Schools allows students the option to enroll full time in the Clay Community Schools Virtual Academy. This program is open to students in 6th - 12th grades and allows student to choose a virtual school option instead of attending their district assigned school. Clay Community Schools will still offer part-time virtual school opportunities in the form of credit recovery or blended learning options at the secondary level.
To be a full-time student, a student must meet specific requirements. The courses are made available through a partnership with Edmentum's EdOptions Academy and will include a full middle school/junior high curriculum as well as a full high school course load. Students will be offered all core courses, electives, AP, Global Language, and Career and Technical Education courses, everything a student needs to earn a district approved diploma.
Clay Community Schools Virtual Academy will NOT be a stand-alone school. Clay Community Schools Virtual Academy has two (2) types of enrollments for students. Full-time students are enrolled in Clay Community Schools Virtual Academy, taking a majority of all courses through the virtual academy. Part-time status applies to high school students only. Students are enrolled at either Clay City Jr./Sr. High School or Northview High School, but take one or more courses via the Clay Community Schools Virtual Academy.
All academy students will be officially enrolled in their district assigned school. Part-time students will be eligible to be part of their district assigned schools' extra-curricular activities including athletics, band, clubs, or any school sponsored activity after one full semester and must enroll in one in-person course.
Out of district students may enroll in the virtual academy with an approved out of district transfer and assigned school. Out of district students enrolling in Clay Community Schools will still be held to the requirements of all out of district students.
Each course will have a certified teacher. Secondary teachers will be working with the students to teach and guide them through the course material.
Once this form is submitted, (and a physical copy of the out of district form is received by CCS Central Office), the student will be assigned a district school for testing purposes. Parents/Guardians will be contacted to finalize the registration process.
