Welcome to SMA Health Professions Education Interest Group. 
Thank you for your interest in being a part of the SMA Health Professions Education Special Interest Group. The proposal was approved by the Society for Medical Anthropology (SMA) Executive Board on November 11, 2022, at the American Anthropological Association (AAA) conference in Seattle.  Please complete this form to sign-up to be a member. 

To be part of this SMA Special Interest Group (SIG) you do not need to be a member of the AAA or SMA.   We welcome people from all countries of the world: students, health practitioners, university professors, and those interested in influencing health professions with anthropology perspectives, methods, and information.  By completing this form you will begin to receive communications with the intention of your participation in the fulfillment of the foundational mission, vision, goals, and initiatives.  

Our mission statement reads:
To support anthropologists in making a positive and lasting impact on medical and health professions education by creating an organizational space that nurtures healthy professional identity, promoting lifelong career advancement, and serve as a representative voice for anthropology among the health professions and the public.
