Thank you for enquiring to hire The MART Gallery Rathmines Dublin to host your exhibition. MART's annual programme is part funded by the Arts Council of Ireland, this is our primary exhibition programme however we occasionally have space available within our calendar year for additional exhibitions or space hire.
This form is for artists who have received funding from a grant agency, patron or wish to self fund an exhibition and host it in our Gallery. This form should only be used for those who have existing / in place funding to pay for the use of the venue.
If you are looking to submit an exhibition proposal that you do not have funding secured for and wish to to be part of MART's future visual arts programme please email info@mart.ie to find out when our next Open Call will be.
Before you submit please read carefully the below details you must be in agreement with before submitting your proposal. We have the below procedures in place to ensure no conflict occurs within our own exhibition fundraising applications, and as we are a small team, whose space and organisation is severely underfunded we have many conditions in place for exhibitions to take place outside our scheduled programme.
Funded Exhibitions:
For the most part MARTs visual art programme is supported through grants such as from the Arts Council of Ireland. This form is for someone who has already secured funding or own financing outside of this to hire the MART Galleries to exhibit their work.
Dates:
This form outlines what dates are available to hire. You must choose one of these dates to apply.
Pricing / Hours:
We have a minimum 1 week [ which is a 5 day hire] for exhibitions.
Gallery 1+2 Hire Rates: {when you hire gallery 1 you always get gallery 2 but you dont have to use it}
1 Week = €2000
2 Weeks = €3000
3 Weeks = €4000
4 Weeks = €5000
Gallery 2 Hire Rates:
1 Week = €1500
2 Weeks = €2000
3 Weeks = €3000
4 Weeks = €4000
Money raised through exhibition hire is used to pay towards administration, staff, utilities, insurance, rent and other operational costs of the organisation.
Exhibitions are open 1-6pm on the days they are open. Set Up & Derig Day are available for a 9 hour block.
Our operating hours are 8am - 9pm.
Any exhibition opening to the public must end by 8pm.
On any day of hire there is a maximum of 9 hours access to the gallery which all must be pre arranged.
Note that installation or derig days in addition of any 5 day hire is charged at €250 a day.
All hours and dates will be arranged before any booking is complete.
Set Up / De Rig:
More on this below, but you must explain who/how you will install / derig your exhibition - ie you have a technician / tools to do so. Unfortunately MART does not supply any tools / personnel to exhibition hires for insurance reasons.
Invigilation:
MART will have an administrator on site during the exhibition set up and opening hours. You must also provide one person [usually the artist] to be on site during any opening hours of the exhibition.
Marketing:
Due to the funding of our main programme through the arts council we need to separate any hired exhibitions from our scheduled programme. In most cases if your exhibition is successful in its application, MART's logo may not be used in the promotion of the event, nor will your exhibit be listed on our website or main social media. This is to separate our hired exhibitions from our own scheduled programming.
Decision:
The MART Directors make all decisions on hires based on a variety of reasons and should not be taken as a reflection of your proposal or quality of work, these include; scheduling, the team's workload, MART's curatorial vision and ethos.
Holding Dates / Letters of Offer:
MART does not provisionally hold dates or provide letters of offer to any exhibition that is not paid for.
Budget:
Basic details on budget will be required - we don't need specifics but we ask below how the show is paid for.
We do not support any public crowd funding of funds towards an exhibition hire. And request no hires do this as it can be seen as MART subsequently crowd funding.
You must confirm that all artist's involved in the proposal will be paid for their participation.
Confirmation Letters for those who have paid:
We can provide confirmation letters for those who have paid the hire fee and may be looking for additional funding for the exhibition to funders outside of MART's own funding cycle / grants. We can discuss this on a case by case basis, but an artist who is hiring the space cannot apply for a fund MART has already applied for, as this will be seen by the grantee as a double application.
Please Check:
Please read over the questions below and the points above before submitting. Once submitted MART should get back to you with in 2 weeks of the application. If you have any questions please email info@mart.ie
Confirmation:
If MART chooses your exhibition hire proposal we will organise a site visit and phone call to confirm details.
Payment:
Once fully confirmed by the Directors, MART will request a €250 refundable deposit within 7 days of the confirmation - this will be funded after the exhibition and is only ever used in case of any damage to the venue. The full hire payment will be due three months before the hire date or within 2 weeks of when the booking is made, if less than 3 months before the hire.
