2020 Wisconsin Drive-In Day
On February 12, 2020, the WMEA Advocacy Committee will host the Wisconsin Drive-In Day at the Capitol in Madison. At this event, participants will meet with Wisconsin legislators to advocate for music eduction and build positive relationships with our state leaders. We need your help!

The WMEA Advocacy Committee is asking for strong participation at the Wisconsin Drive-In Day, including (at a minimum) representatives from all districts in which state legislators serve on the Wisconsin Committee on Education.

Date: February 12, 2020
Location: Madison Concourse (https://www.concoursehotel.com)
9 AM - Breakfast and Training (please note - you must register by Sunday, February 2 to be guaranteed breakfast)
10 AM (or so) - Meetings with Legislators at the State Capitol (scheduled throughout the morning/afternoon)

Additional information will be sent via email as the Drive-In Day approaches, but, for now, please note that (a) there will be training at the Wisconsin Drive-In Day regarding how to effectively advocate for music education with your state legislators and (b) we will function in small groups (i.e., you will not be alone) as we connect with our state leaders. Please join us in Madison to advocate for music education!

If you cannot join us in person at the Wisconsin Drive-In Day, please consider others ways that you can support us in this important initiative. For example, we hope to share letters of support for music education with our state leaders during our visits at the Capitol - as such, we will be looking for letter writers (please note - the WMEA Advocacy Committee will share a sample letter/template as the event draws near). Additionally, we need help in identifying and contacting people who may be interested in joining us at the Capitol on February 12 (e.g., music teachers, parents of music students, members of booster clubs, business owners, college music majors, etc) - your help in this way would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thank you for stepping forward to make a difference for music education in Wisconsin!

In Music,

Paul J. Budde, Ph.D.
WMEA Advocacy Committee Chair
