This year, we are looking for qualified individuals to compete in two competitions, the Department of Energy's Race to Zero 2017 competition and Solar Decathlon China 2017 competition sponsored by the Department of Energy and National Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China. Please make sure you check the box for which Project Team you would like to apply for. Read below for a quick description of the two competitions.
Solar Decathlon 2017:
"The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency." - www.solardecathlon.gov
For this competition, we are looking for dedicated individuals with experience in their fields. Applicants should be ready to hit the ground running. This project team will require a minimum of one meeting per week plus applicable work outside the meetings. The time commitment for the Solar Decathlon China 2017 competition will be more demanding than that of the Race to Zero competition. The competition spans 2 years, so please take this into consideration.
Race to Zero 2017:
"The Race to Zero is an annual competition, open to students and faculty from any interested collegiate institution. The competition is based upon a real-world scenario where a builder needs to update an existing product line (house plan) to a high-performance house design or is developing a new high performance home product line. College teams are posed with a specific design problem and are asked to either redesign an existing floor plan or create a new house design that satisfies the project requirements." www.energy.gov
For the Race to Zero, we are looking for dedicated individuals who are interested in sustainable building. Applicants for the Race to Zero do not need to have specific experience in their field, but rather need to show initiative. The Race to Zero is a great opportunity to gain experience not only in your field, but also in project management and leadership roles. The project team will require a minimum of one meeting per week plus associated work outside the meetings.
We are also looking for individuals interested in our outreach and sponsorship committees. Our sponsorship committee works to develop industry relationships with companies in the building sector. We work to tailor sponsorship packages to specific companies' interests. You will get the opportunity to interact one-and-one with professionals from some of the most prominent Fortune 500 companies. Our outreach committee aims to connect the work and research being done by our organization with the broader Champaign-Urbana community. You will work to coordinate with other RSO's as well as with community groups within Central Illinois.
We look forward to receiving your applications, and if you have any questions, please email us at email@example.com
