Bumblekite Online 2021 - application form
Hello,

My name is Kate and my work in Bumblekite centers around designing the participants’ experience for all our programmes. If you reached out to us with any questions by email, or applied for the summer school, we likely interacted already.

This application form was developed by me, and I can’t wait to guide you through it! I hope my input will make your application experience comfortable, smooth and enjoyable.

The application form consists out of 3 main parts:
1. General Information - 10 short questions to introduce yourself and 2 questions for you to attach your CV and list other links.
2. Cover letter - the most IMPORTANT part! We ask you to share your expectations about how the programme will be beneficial for you.
3. Short policy questions - here we will ask you to answer two policy-related questions in 2-3 sentences each.

It will take you approx. 30 mins to fill out the form.
You can fill the form partially, pause and come back to continue - for this press “Next” buttons until the last page, then press “Submit”. Your answers will be saved and you will be emailed a link to edit your answers. Take your time!

You will be able to make changes in your answers until October 24th, 23:59 EST.

We collect email addresses in the field below. Please make sure your email address is correct as we will use it to send out a link to edit your answers and our decision.

Feel free to contact us with any questions: https://bumblekite.four-corp.com/contact-us.

I am looking forward to learning more about you through your thoughts and opinions. I will be sharing my answers to some questions as examples. Therefore, in a way, we will be getting to know each other. :)

Cover letter
Now we are moving on to the part of the application we will put the most weight on: the cover letter. It gives us an opportunity to learn more about your expectations from the programme and your educational needs: what do you expect the programme will help you with? What is it important for you to gain here?

Please, be specific and precise when describing your ideas and examples. Here is an example:
Not specific: “I’m looking for new opportunities.”,
Specific: “I’m looking for a potential job offer in area X / meeting people from my field / learning skills A, B, C & D that I lack now because of Y.”

From our 2020 application experience, the most impressive cover letters were the most specific ones, because it was absolutely clear what the person was looking for and what their opinions were on the topics they were addressing in their letters.

The more clarity, the better!
Cover Letter assignment
Please provide a piece of writing, covering the following three points:
How is the programme going to be useful for you?
Please come up with an example of one situation which you will be able to resolve by applying the skills and knowledge that you expect to gain during the programme. Describe the “before” and “after” cases: what difficulties you experience now in this situation (or would experience, if the situation is hypothetical) and how you will deal with them after finishing the programme?

Please continue sharing your expectations about joining Bumblekite Online. What is a crucial takeaway for you? What will make this programme worthwhile for you?

Come up with an example of a situation when you were doing something together with people of different backgrounds, cultures and knowledge about the topic, and you had to accept and overcome your differences - explain your ideas in different ways, make sure your partner/partners understood you properly.
Please write a couple of sentences describing what was the situation and explaining why you chose it as an example.

Usually such situations arise when we are working in a team or leading a group of people: e.g. while teaching, being a mentor for a newcomer in a company, playing with siblings. These are just examples, your situation may be different. :)

Please use max. 400 words to cover these topics. Be precise and specific. Please explain your ideas in a simple way which would be exciting and clear for both people from your field and people with a different background.
