Miners for Senator Gabriel Ramos
Gabriel Ramos was appointed to the New Mexico Senate in 2019 after the three county commissions in Senate District 28 -- Grant, Socorro and Catron -- unanimously recommended he fulfill the remainder of Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales' term in the state Senate.

Senator Ramos has served our communities in southwestern New Mexico for more than 20 years, including nine years in the New Mexico Army National Guard and as a school board member, mayor pro tem, county clerk, and county commissioner.

As our legislator, Senator Ramos stood up for our jobs in southwestern New Mexico by fighting back against radical anti-mining legislation introduced by a Sierra Club-endorsed politician from Santa Fe. He also understands that copper is essential to driving both our local economy and the development of renewable energy in New Mexico and around the world.

He currently lives in Silver City with his wife Patricia and their two children Erika and James. In addition to being a veteran, Senator Ramos is also a small business owner, hunting guide, and avid outdoorsman.
