HOW CAN YOUR ARTS PRACTICE ACTIVELY BRIDGE THESE?
These are the questions that will propel and shape this three-week intensive. This program will bring together a group of international participants, Mitu teaching artists, and Indian masters to rigorously engage with these core ideas.
The artist’s personal mythology is often overlooked in an attempt to focus on technique, achievement, and success. But the question remains, what propels the artist? What is their belief system? What stories have formed who they are and the work they create? We believe the answers to these questions can only be discovered when the artist is asked to forget everything they think they know and in so doing, explore themselves outside of a context that is familiar: artistically, philosophically, aesthetically, and geographically. It is this belief that began Theater Mitu’s extensive and ongoing conversation with some of South India’s most accomplished masters and artists.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
DATES: June 1st to June 23rd, 2024
LOCATION: Visthar Center for Social Justice and Peace, Bangalore, India.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Early Applications are due March 1st (for notification March 15th).
Regular Applications are due April 1st (for notification April 12th).
TUITION:
Early Decision (apply by March 1st): $4,500.00*
Regular Decision (apply by April 1st): $5,000.00*
Tuition includes round trip airfare from New York City, room and board, and local travel for research outings and cultural immersion experiences.
* If you will not require airfare to/from India or would prefer to organize your own travel, please contact dbutkus@theatermitu.org for adjusted tuition rates.
PAYMENT SCHEDULE:
Payment #1: A deposit of $1,800.00 ($900 w/o flight) is required to hold your spot in the program and is due upon acceptance. All deposits are non-refundable.
Early Decision:
- Payment #2: $1,350.00 ($1,350.00 w/o flight) due May 1, 2024
- Payment #3: $1,350.00 ($1,350.00 w/o flight) due May 17, 2024
Regular Decision:
- Payment #2: $1,600.00 ($1,600.00 w/o flight) due May 1, 2024
