Maine's Tourism Industry Supports the Pine Tree Amendment
LD 489 Language: The people of the State have the right to a clean and healthy environment and to the preservation of the natural, cultural and healthful qualities of the environment. The State may not infringe upon these rights. The State shall conserve, protect and maintain the State’s natural resources, including, but not limited to, its air, water, land and ecosystems for the benefit of all the people, including generations yet to come.

The following letter, including your digital signature, will be sent to each representative in the Maine Legislature:

Dear Representatives of the Maine State Legislature,

As workers and business owners in the tourism industry, we are writing to urge you to support the Pine Tree Amendment. We represent hotels, inns and campgrounds, restaurants and diners, shops, and outdoor activities.  Please join us in protecting the Maine that we love.

We rely on the tourist industry in Maine for our livelihoods, just as Maine relies on the tourism industry for a healthy economy. With the Pine Tree Amendment, we can declare to the world that Maine has a long-term constitutional strategy to preserve Maine’s natural beauty and abundant natural resources.

We live in a time of rapid environmental change, and we need a strategy to conserve, protect and maintain the state’s natural resources. Doing so will help ensure that those of us in the tourism industry are able to continue to do our jobs, and to support our families and the state of Maine as a whole.

Please help us to protect the state that we love. Please vote in favor of the Pine Tree Amendment.

Sincerely,
