We probably won't have many/any extra shirts or school instruments past this date - but please let me know and we'll see if we do still!
This year, for the 2026 Odem HS Homecoming Game vs. Aransas Pass, on September 11th, the right dates have aligned for us to host an Alumni Band Night! We are looking for any alumni from Odem HS who have graduated from the band program (ANY YEAR!) to come join us for this special event! We plan to have a special performance of some of the 'classic' songs the band has played over the decades before the game, after the Homecoming Court Coronation, together with the current band students. During the game, if alumni wish, you may join us in the stands to play! (We will have a separate section marked off beside our current students during that time.)
There will be more details we'll be ironing out in the coming weeks, but we're trying to gauge our initial interest levels first. We are planning to have a special Alumni Band shirt for members to wear while performing. We'll be looking for a $25 donation to cover that expense, game entrance, and a few other minor costs we anticipate. We will have a limited number of instruments available to lend out on a first-come, first-served basis for those who played school instruments or no longer have theirs. We'll have flags for past color guard members as well.
We ask that alumni please provide their own flip folders/lyres if possible. We will have some limited ones available, but we won't be able to provide for everyone. Flip folders can be found on Amazon at this link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QM47GE6/ . If you search for the instrument and lyre, you can find those there as well. South Texas Music Mart in town would also have them available. We will send PDFs of the music out to all who sign up around August 31st via email if you wish to start looking at them in advance.
For the week of homecoming, here is our plans:
Wednesday, September 9th, 6:30 pm - ~8:00pm:
If you're in town, we'll have a rehearsal at the HS Band Hall to help assign some instruments and dust the cobwebs out! (We know out of town alumni won't likely be able to make it to this evening)
Thursday, September 10th:
Come join the community for the Homecoming Parade and Burning of the 'O'!
Friday, September 11th (Homecoming Game):
Tentatively 5:00 pm: Rehearsal with band and alumni for Pre-Game at Stadium or our Practice Field
6:45 pm: Alumni Band meets at scoreboard side of stadium to watch coronation ceremony and gather for performance
~7:10 pm: Alumni Band and HS Band Perform Jointly Pre-Game
7:30 pm: Kick-Off
