Volunteer Code of Conduct

Our students are the most important gifts God has entrusted to us. As a volunteer, I promise to strictly follow the rules and guidelines outlined in this Code of Conduct.

As a volunteer I will:

Treat everyone with respect, loyalty, patience, integrity, courtesy, dignity, and consideration
Avoid situations where I am alone with Unless U student
Use positive reinforcement rather than criticism, competition, or comparison when working with students
Serve as a positive role model for our students
Dress appropriately
- Volunteers should not wear t-shirts (unless they are Unless U-branded), low cut tops, shorts, or dresses/skirts more than 2 inches above the knee. If wearing leggings the top must be the appropriate length to provide full coverage.
Present myself in a way that reflects the high standards held at Unless U
Refrain from any form of personal abuse towards students and others, including inappropriate or unwanted sexual advances on others, verbal, physical, or emotional abuse
- Be alert to any form of abuse from other sources directed toward students in my care.
- Be professional in my interactions with the Unless U staff and students. There is a time and place for goofing off and having fun.
- Consistently ask the staff how I can help and assist students in all areas possible.
- Encourage all students to participate in the classroom and other activities.

As a volunteer I will not:

Smoke or use tobacco products in the presence of Unless U students
Use, possess, or be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at any time while volunteering
Pose any health risk to students (i.e. no fevers or contagious illnesses)
Humiliate, ridicule, threaten, or degrade students
Have verbal disagreements with other volunteers or staff members in front of students or families

Technology

Cell phones should be left in your car, purse, or bag.
Volunteers should not “friend” students or families on social media.
Volunteers cannot post pictures, snaps, reels, videos, or stories of our students on social media. They are free, however, to re-post items that are made by Unless U or Unless U Scoops.

I understand that as a volunteer working with students at Unless U and Post Place I am subject to a thorough background check, including criminal history. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. I understand that any action inconsistent with this Code of Conduct or failure to take action mandated by this Code of Conduct may result in removal as a volunteer at Unless U or Post Place.
