This training will be facilitated by The Trevor
Project, the leading non-profit for LGBTQ youth suicide prevention, offering
24/7 crisis support via phone, text, and chat, plus resources, advocacy, and
research to create affirming environments and save young lives. The Trevor
Project’s LGBTQ+ Ally Training is an interactive introduction to supporting
LGBTQ+ youth with understanding, empathy, and confidence. Participants will
learn key terminology, explore the coming-out experience, and gain insight into
the unique challenges LGBTQ+ young people face at home, in school, and in their
communities. Through guided activities, attendees will reflect on personal
biases, build cultural awareness, and discover concrete ways to create safer,
more affirming environments. The training also explains The Trevor Project’s
services, what it means to be an ally, and practical steps they can take to
support LGBTQ+ youth by fostering inclusive communities.
