The Minidoka Pilgrimage Planning Committee (MPPC) is a volunteer-run organization of survivors and descendants of the Japanese American incarceration, as well as allies. Through our annual pilgrimage to the Minidoka National Historic Site and other programming, our guiding mission is to honor and provide healing for the generations of our families and community members who were imprisoned during World War II in one of 75 American prison camps. We also strive to educate the general public on this often erased history. Our home base is Seattle, WA.
Each year, the MPPC awards the Youth Fellowship to college students, recent graduates, and other young people interested in learning about the history of Minidoka and getting involved in the Japanese American community. Youth Fellows get hands-on experience volunteering before and during the pilgrimage, complete a project of their choosing related to their experience on the pilgrimage, and get to attend the pilgrimage, including room and board, for free. To be eligible you must be 18+ years old, be able to attend the pilgrimage in its entirety during July 9-12, 2026, in Twin Falls, Idaho, and be willing to attend weekly evening MPPC meetings to the best of your ability starting in May of 2026. If you are not based in Seattle, or will not be in Seattle during the Spring and Summer of 2026, please note that in your application. The priority deadline to submit applications is March 25th, 2026 and decisions will be sent in the following weeks. Decisions on any applications sent after March 25th will be sent on a rolling basis.
