This workshop will explore the complex landscape of economic sanctions, examining the delicate balance between political objectives and legal constraints. Economic sanctions are a prominent tool in addressing national security concerns, including terrorism, nuclear proliferation, human rights abuses and the destabilization of foreign countries. But they also raise critical questions about due process, proportionality, individual human rights.

Join us for an in-depth examination of how the US government formulates, administers, and enforces economic sanctions. We will explore the tension between the effectiveness of sanctions and adherence to the rule of law, using real-world examples and regulatory challenges.
