The adviser of the applicant must be a current member of the Journalism Education Association (JEA). The state winner will be notified by Monday, March 7, 2015. The winner, who must be a high school senior, can then submit the winning portfolio to the national JEA Journalist of the Year contest by the March 15, 2015 deadline.
Here's how to apply:
1. Fill out the form below.
2. Then, create a Google folder that includes your official high school grade transcripts; current resume; self-analytical essay and three letters of recommendation and action photo.
3. Name this folder as follows: FirstName_LastName_California_JOY_2016_MATERIALS.
4. Share this folder with California state director Beatrice Motamedi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
5. Confirm that you have completed this task by sending an email to Beatrice to let her know that you have shared your Google folder with her.
