In the last three decades, state and federal prison populations have skyrocketed, due largely to the War on Drugs and the rise of so-called “get tough” initiatives – like mandatory minimum sentencing for low-level offenders – that result in huge racial disparities in our prison system. Join The Leadership Conference Spring Interns for a panel discussion about mandatory minimum sentences, the adverse effects these policies have on communities of color, and efforts that are underway to correct this injustice.
