Did you know that trees in a forest are interconnected and social with one another? We used to think that they were constantly in competition, but instead, we've learned that trees in a forest communicate with each other through underground fungal networks- sharing nutrients and taking care of one another, especially when a tree is in need. Trees within a forest are connected; they belong to one another; they are quite literally rooted in their community. We, at Calvary, want to be like the trees.
So, we are gathering Community Groups as a way of "Choosing Community" within our church.
These are intended to be monthly gatherings (unless otherwise decided by individual groups) of 6-9 adults that consist of:- gathering : coming together for a meal, a study or a missional project, etc.
- connecting : sharing about our lives with one another and prayer
- belonging : moving toward the hope of being known, loved and valued and knowing, loving and valuing others
After the groups have met for 4-6 months, there will be an opportunity to either recommit to the group or to step back from the group depending on your and/or your family's needs/desires.
