Cornerstone Theater Company's Living Newspaper will amplify the voices of residents impacted by the Eaton Fire and document the recovery process in the present tense. Drawing on interviews, testimony, and ensemble performance, the production will transform lived experience into accessible, trauma-informed theater. By staging stories of displacement, resilience, and care, the project fosters dialogue, reduces stigma, and connects audiences to local mental health resources, while rebuilding communal bonds through collective storytelling and public performance.
This project culminates in a gatherings that bring together artists and young people impacted by the Eaton Fire with local Angelenos. The gatherings will uplift stories and experiences of recovery, renewal, and collective imagining, and also offer peer led workshops on mending and fiber arts. This gathering will be held on May 30th from 10AM- 5PM at the Eaton Fire Collaborative. More information coming soon.
We will start this process on Thursday May 7 at the Armory Center for the Arts, from 4-6PM for a zine making workshop facilitated by Gayle Nicholls, and from 6-8PM for arts and crafts with the community. Join us!
