Dear IB Students and Families:
The PHS IB program uses three online programs to help manage, coordinate, and plan many aspects of the IB program.
MANAGEBAC $13
This program can be used not only for documenting CAS hours but also to assist students with their Extended Essay and Internal Assessments, which begin their junior year, and their Theory of Knowledge paper and presentation during their senior year. Managebac was designed and developed by a former IB student from another school who wanted an easier method for documenting and submitting work. Managebac is directly
linked with IB headquarters so that documents can be sent to them electronically. Managebac also has an app for students to document information on a smart phone for their convenience.
NAVIANCE $6
This is a comprehensive college and careers readiness solution for high school students. It will help align students’ strengths and interests to post-secondary goals and improve student outcomes.
TURN IT IN $6
This is a web-based writing assessment tool kit which allows instructors to provide feedback to students and originality reports to detect plagiarism. Whereas many school districts require their IB students to pay for their exams and IB fees (which exceeds thousands of dollars per student), the Escambia County School District and PHS pay for these expenses. However, for these accounts, students will be required to pay $25 per year, which is well worth the cost. If your family has a financial hardship, please contact Mrs. Metcalfe to discuss other options at (850) 595-1500 ext. 244.
It is important to begin this registration process quickly so students do not have a gap in documenting CAS hours, exploring in Naviance, and also to have access to Turn It In. Please submit $25 using the online payment portal. If online payment is not possible, checks should be made payable to PHS IB. Please ensure that you use a valid student e-mail address for your account, as e-mail notifications are occasionally sent regarding important information for the PHS IB program.
