Terms and Agreements (English)
One of the long-standing goals of Castleberry ISD has been to provide safe and equal access to technology and all of the affordances it allows. As our connected learning program has expanded and more students are taking their technology devices home, it has become apparent that many of our students do not have a safe and reliable Internet connection at home.
In early 2017, the district began to look at solutions to "bridge the divide" by offering a filtered home Internet connection to all CISD students who take a district issued device home. This solution provides safe and secure access to online educational resources at no additional cost to the student. This project enables all students to access online textbooks, online classrooms, work on projects requiring Internet service, and access other various educational resources.
In order to access the CISD safe Internet at home, students and parents will have to agree to the terms below prior to checking out a WiFi Router from their school.
*Elementary students with a school issued computer are eligible to check out a WiFi router through the Elementary Innovation Leader.
*Secondary students with a school issued computer are eligible to check out a WiFi router from their technology staff member.
*Routers will be checked out and kept at home until May of 2020. Students that do not return the WiFi router along with the SIM card in May of 2020 will be fined the full cost of the Wifi router ($140).
*If the student withdraws from school prior to May of 2020, the WiFi router along with the SIM card must be returned or the full cost of the router will be charged ($140).
*School devices will automatically connect to the Wifi Router once the router is powered on.
*Parents and/or students will be asked to provide feedback on how the device is working throughout the year through a survey.
*Although district devices provide filtering for inappropriate content, children under the age of 18 should be monitored while browsing the Internet to ensure safety and address possible issues that may arise.
*All devices utilizing the school network will be filtered and inappropriate content will be logged, children under the age of 18 should still be monitored while browsing the Internet to ensure safety.
