It is the purpose of the Thomas Johnson Youth Athletic Association (TJYAA) to enable children to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, we teach fundamental values, skills, and knowledge that children will use throughout their lives. It shall be the purpose of all TJYAA coaches to emphasize teamwork and sportsmanship while teaching the basics of the Thomas Johnson Youth program. The coaches will be responsible for assisting and supporting fundraising and volunteer activities. Their responsibilities go beyond teaching football and cheer. All coaches are expected to set an excellent example through words and actions to our athletes on and off the field.

The Thomas Johnson Youth Athletic Association will not discriminate against any person(s) seeking the opportunity to volunteer and participate in any capacity based on race, creed, color, natural origin, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
Purpose: This form allows the TJYAA Management Team to follow a regimented process for reviewing and selecting volunteers to fill Head Coach and Assistant Coach positions within TJYAA for the upcoming 2023 season. Prior coaching or volunteer experience at any level is optional for applying with TJYAA. Before any individual is appointed as a TJYAA Football or Cheer Coach, they must submit a completed application, agree to a background check/investigation, and interview with the TJHS Coaches and TJYAA Management Team.
Privacy Policy: TJYAA collects information from coaching applicants to determine eligibility and suitability and conduct background investigations necessary to ensure the safety of our participants. We will not collect any information that is not reasonably necessary to participate in this program. We will not disclose applicant information to any third party except for the necessary information to conduct background investigations.
As a condition of volunteering, I permit TJYAA to conduct a background check on me, which may include a review of sex offender registries, child abuse, and criminal history records. I understand that, if appointed, my position is conditional upon TJYAA receiving no information of inappropriateness in my background. I now release and agree to hold harmless from liability; to the TJYAA officers, volunteers, and any other person or organization that may provide such information. I also understand that TJYAA is not obligated to appoint me to a volunteer position regardless of previous appointments. If selected, I know that, before the expiration of my term, if I violate any TJYAA policies or principles as outlined in the Coaches Conduct/bylaws or undertake any activity that the Management Team deems not to be in the best interest of our student-athletes or the organization programs, I will be subject to suspension and removal by the TJYAA Governing Body.
Instructions: Please fill out ALL information requested. A person shall be considered for any position within the TJYAA Football or Cheer coaching staff once a completed application is submitted and approved by the TJYAA Management Team. Also, by volunteering, you agree to follow all rules and regulations set forth by TJYAA Management Team and understand that failure to comply with all regulations can result in termination as a volunteer coach. All applications are subject to review and approval by the TJYAA Management Team.
