Meet our Judges:Meredith Shields, Managing Director, Sorenson Impact FoundationAs Managing Director, Meredith is responsible for directing Program Related Investments and Mission Related Investments at the Soresonson Impact Foundation. Prior to joining the Sorenson Impact Foundation, Meredith has worked in investment banking, consulted to non-profits and NGOs in the US and East Africa, and worked with the Beyond Capital Fund, an early-stage impact investment fund in Zurich, Switzerland. Meredith graduated from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and holds a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce.
Alex Goodman, President and CEO, 118 CapitalBefore co-founding 118 Capital, Alex has served as a founding advisor to the Columbia Angel Group and worked internationally with entrepreneurs as a mentor in the Endeavor network. Alex’s corporate background also includes 5+ years as a Management Consultant within Grant Thornton’s Advisory practice in Washington D.C. and in Latin America, where he built his expertise in organizational improvement and financial management, as well as corporate and project finance. Alex holds an MPA from Columbia’s School of International Policy and Affairs and a BA in Economics from Bucknell University.
Vida Williams, Innovator in Residence, VCU; Co-founder, Axis PartnersVida has spent more than twenty years helping companies map data elements into actionable information for executive decision making. She is the co-founder of Axis, a social enterprise consulting firm serving mission-driven organizations in data architecture, process engineering, and data sciences. Vida is deeply committed to the impact of inclusive points of view in innovation and the impact on social justice, speaking broadly at conferences such as OSCON and the White House. A long-time Richmond resident, Vida engages with the local community by sitting on several boards, including Podium and Code VA. Vida graduated from Duke University with degrees in History and English. and certificates in Women’s Studies and African American studies.
