Grace Community Church's Annual Family Camping and Fishing Trip is June 1st-3rd, 2018. The weekend begins Friday afternoon and ends Sunday morning at Stone Mountain State Park in Roaring Gap, NC (3042 Frank Parkway, Roaring Gap, NC 28668). You must arrive between 1pm and 8 pm on Friday (the park gate is locked nightly at 8 pm). Everyone has to be off the campsites by noon on Sunday, but are welcomed to stay in the park.
This year we will be sharing family campsites. These sites can hold a max of 6 people and accommodate up to 2 tents. Please indicate when registering below which family you would like to share a site with if you have a preference. There are enough sites reserved for 36 people total. The signup will be closed if this mark is met. The plan is to find a common area to gather together at some point during the weekend. Connecting sites will be reserved if possible.
The cost is $10 per family unit and is due when you register. Please make checks payable to GCC and write "Campout" in the memo. Checks can be given to Ricky Lee or mailed to P.O. Box 1505, Angier, NC 27501.
WHAT ABOUT FOOD?Due to using family sites, every family is responsible for their own food.
WHAT ABOUT FISHING?Children ages 15 and under can fish without a license. A license is required for everyone age 16 and over who will be fishing. A year license can be purchased or a 3-day permit can be purchased. In addition to a license or permit, you will have to purchase a "trout stamp." This is purchased along with your license or permit. Licenses and permits can be purchased at Walmart or any sporting goods store. You need to purchase a license before arriving at the park.
A note about bait...Artificial bait is okay, but it's been suggested that you will have better luck fishing with worms, cheeseballs, or a can of corn. Everyone needs to bring their own bait and a light-weight spinning reel and #6 hooks are recommended.
WHAT DO I BRING?-Camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, pillow, camping chairs, etc.)-Food for your family and a means for cooking it (Don't forget snacks and bottled water)-Toiletries (there is a bathhouse with private showers)-Fishing gear-Bathing suit if you wish to swim-Bug spray
