Columbia Empire Volleyball Association (CEVA) promotes, fosters, and teaches life-long lessons through volleyball in Oregon and SW Washington.  CEVA is dedicated to providing quality volleyball opportunities through high caliber programs, member services, and community involvement.  

CEVA is also the regional organization of USA Volleyball.  USA Volleyball is the governing body of our sport, and has 40 regions throughout the United States.  CEVA represents the entire State of Oregon, plus four counties in SW Washington.  CEVA offers playing opportunities for Junior Girls, Junior Boys, Adults, and Outdoor Volleyball.

The CEVA Board of Directors has 7 membership-elected positions, which hone in on the specific tasks required to help grow the game of volleyball in our Region.  You are NOT required to select one of these positions in order to complete this form, if it is not your intention to run for a Board of Directors position.  These positions are elected every other year and include the following:

ELECTED IN EVEN YEARS:  Adult Representative, Junior Boys' Representative, Geographical Representative

ELECTED IN ODD YEARS:  Junior Girls' Representative, Parent Representative, Officials' Representative, Diversity & Inclusion Representative

Qualifications for membership-elected directors are as follows:

Must be a current Regular member of CEVA with a cleared background screen and SafeSport certification (or be able to obtain memberships & certifications upon election).
Must act as an intermediary for members to express ideas to the Board.
Must be interested in and willing to promote CEVA programs.
Must be willing and reasonably able to attend regular and special Board meetings.
Must be affiliated with the membership constituency the specific position represents.

Membership-elected Directors are elected to serve for a 2-year term.  They may be elected to serve for two full consecutive terms, after which time the Director must leave the Board for at least one year.  

No sanctioned club may have more than two representatives on the Board at any given time.  Elections generally occur around the annual CEVA Regional Championships.  Terms begin on July 1st of the subsequent fiscal year.  Club affiliation is defined as being a club director, administrator, coach, or parent of a player in a club.  


The Board of Directors may elect up to 5 additional Directors, designated as At-Large Directors, or Board-Elected Directors.  At-Large positions allow the Board of Directors to select individuals with the professional skills and experience to move the organization forward both in terms of basic organizational needs and growth of the game.  Desired qualifications for these positions can include, but are not limited to, the following:

Financial, accounting, or human resources background
Marking or public relations experience
Fundraising or development experience
General business background, particularly in non-profits
Legal background

At-Large directors may be elected by the Board at any regular or special Board meeting.  

Per the CEVA Bylaws, one director in each fiscal year must be affiliated with a sanctioned club with no more than 6 teams registered with CEVA at the time of their nomination.  Additionally, one director must be a regular member with no affiliation with a sanctioned club at the time of their nomination.  

At-Large directors serve for the full fiscal year in which they are elected to the Board.  They may serve four consecutive terms (one year each) before they must leave the Board for a one-year period.


The CEVA Board of Directors meets approximately once every other month, generally on Mondays.  Meetings are held generally at the CEVA office, and can be attended remotely.  Board members are expected to attend each meeting.  Members can expect well-run, organized meetings that begin punctually.  Board positions are on a volunteer-basis.


Nominations for vacancies on CEVA's standing or ad-hoc committees are accepted on a rolling basis.  Information on current openings can be found online at www.cevaregion.org/join.
