are for a neighborhood block party, and are
not
permitted for a resident or organization private party or event.

BLOCK PARTY REQUEST PROCEDURES
Please consult with your neighbors about best dates and times for everyone before submitting your block party request.
Please read through the following procedures, guidelines and application process before completing your online request.
Once your online block party request is submitted, you will be sent an automated email containing the
required Permit Request Forms
:
Block Party Sponsor Agreement
and
Resident Signature Form
. Please complete these required forms as directed in the email.
Submission of the Permit Request Forms does not guarantee the issuance of a Permit.
Block Party Permit Request Forms are due a
minimum
of 3 weeks before the party date.
If you request your block party far in advance of the date, please submit your forms as soon as possible.
You may submit the completed Permit Request Forms
via electronic upload, mail or drop off at Public Works.

Once the Village’s permit review process is complete, you will be emailed an approval or denial of your permit request.
BLOCK PARTY GUIDELINES
The Village will only accept Block Party Requests and Permit Request Forms for block parties within the calendar year of the current block party season.
Block parties are permitted between the first weekend of April and the third weekend of October, and are allowed on
Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Memorial Day and Labor Day.
There is a limit to the number of block parties allowed each weekend
. Party dates are secured on a first-come first-served basis and requests for filled dates will be denied.
Road closures are for a maximum time limit of eight (8) hours and may not block off intersections
. Requests may be denied due to safety concerns.
Major projects or events
affecting the block on the requested date may affect Village approval.
Two Type 1 barricades are required by Village Ordinance to close the road for a block party.
The block party event sponsor is required to pick up their assigned barricades on
the Friday of, or the Friday before the party at the Public Works facility, located at 5101 Walnut Ave,
between the hours of 7:30am and 4:30pm
.
Early barricade pick up on a day prior to Friday is not available
. Barricades must be returned by the first business day following the block party.
Project schedules can fluctuate unexpectedly as the construction season progresses.
We
recommend waiting until your block party is approved before contracting with vendors.
BLOCK PARTY APPLICATION PROCESS

Once you receive the automated email with the required Permit Request Forms attached, print out both forms and complete:
Block Party Sponsor Agreement
: as the event sponsor, please sign and date.
Resident Signature Form
: required to demonstrate proper notification to the neighborhood. Please print out and use the form to obtain one (1) valid adult signature per address, from a
minimum
of 25% of the households on the portion of the street that is to be blocked off for the party.
