2018 O'Neill Junior Cabaret Fellows - Audition Request
The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s Cabaret & Performance Conference will accept video submissions, with a deadline of 5pm, March 23, 2018. Videos should be submitted to producingapprentice@theoneill.org. Upon submission of video, please complete the below.

This summer's theme will be BORN TO ROCK, a study of Heartland Music - Springsteen, Tom Petty, Mellencamp, Melissa Etheridge, Aerosmith, Patti Smith, Billy Joel, Joan Jett, Journey, The Pretenders. Please prepare two contrasting short songs (verse, chorus, verse, chorus) by one of these singers.

The Junior Fellows Program, led by Brad Simmons (Lysistrata Jones), offers 8-12 students the opportunity for professional vocal instruction, movement, and hands-on artistic guidance in the art of performance. Students gain valuable interaction with world-renowned guest artists and professional faculty, and acquire skills needed to make Cabaret performance an important part of their creative lives.

Junior Fellows work alongside our Fellows and participate in masterclasses, training workshops, and performances at the conference’s open mic sessions, plus culminate their experience with a showcase performance on the main stage in the second week of the Conference. Notable Junior Fellows alumni include Braiden Sunshine, a semifinalist on NBC’s The Voice in 2015.

Brad Simmons, Junior Cabaret Fellows Director, notes, “Now in the program’s ninth season, the 2018 Junior Cabaret Fellows will study, interpret and perform the songbook of an artist from the New American Songbook. Past studies have included The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Nicks, and Dolly Parton, as well as a Glee-themed song revue and an age-appropriate Broadway revue. Consider spending ten life-changing days with us in Waterford, CT.”

The program will run from August 1-11, 2018, at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. Students must be available for full days (9am-10pm) for the full length of the program. Students must be between the age of 12-18. Tuition is $1,000 and includes all meals. Optionally, students with accompanying parent or guardian, may choose to stay in O'Neill dormitory housing for an additional cost of $700, based on availability. Limited, need-based, scholarship aid is available.
