The Eglinton East/Morningside/Meadowvale corridor is one of the city's most heavily traveled bus routes. And the approved Eglinton East LRT with 24 stops from Kennedy to Malvern would be within walking distance of over 40,00 residents. It would create 4,000+ good jobs if built publicly, bringing much needed connectivity to this corridor.
The Eglinton East LRT for which the Environmental Assessment was approved in 2009, has not been prioritized for funding in the report that will go to Toronto Council on April 16th and the Province did not include it in its list of transportation projects for Toronto.
It is imperative that The Eglinton East LRT receive funding so that detailed design and construction can begin this year.
We are asking you to work tirelessly to ensure our underserved neighbourhoods are prioritized. Scarborough needs a rapid transit network now and this network should include a connection to Malvern, our Priority Neighbourhoods in SE Scarborough and UTSC.
We look forward to your response.
