EOI: DESIRE - Interdisciplinary Improv Lab

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

DESIRE - An Interdisciplinary Improv Lab

What does it feel like to engage with desire in a world that is falling apart?

This lab* is an invitation - To experiment, to think, to test ideas and to tune into oneself. To engage with desire and personal agency both individually and collectively.

Together we will
create ephemeral works through interdisciplinary improvisation and experimentation led by the concept of desire. We will listen and create with images, text, sound and movement.

* Please note that this is not a workshop. It is a lab where you will engage in a process of making that I am testing and developing as an emerging artist interested in community arts facilitation and social participatory arts practice.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This lab is for socially-engaged sound, text, movement artists and thinkers with an openness to testing, experimentation and improvisation.

It is for people who are interested in connection and collaboration with others. It is for those who are able to hold complexity for new and differing ideas from their own.

In the spirit to (re)connecting with desire; Yes to fumbling, Yes to failing, Yes to feeling silly and trying any way, Yes to non-fully formed ideas, Yes to the journey.

No to judgement - of self and of others, No to right and wrongs, No to good and bad

ABOUT

Andrea is a Singaporean-born experimental violinist, sound maker and performance artist currently based on Bidjigal land in Sydney, Australia. Her practice is underpinned by concepts of listening and complicating the subject matter of identity in today’s socio-political climate.

During her residency at Titanik, Andrea will be developing experimental performance work "All the Ghosts I Know Are Women". She will experiment with the sonic materiality of objects mentioned in oral folkloric tales of female ghosts in Singapore. The work seeks to subvert these tales by repositioning them as feminist symbols of justice.
