Course #1: Cohesion and Coherence

Time: 18:00 to 20:00 on Wednesdays

Duration: February 24 to April 14 (with one additional session)

Course description: course focuses on cohesion and coherence which are important aspects of the structure of academic writing as they have an influence on the readability and the logical flow of the argument of a text.

Upon completion of the course, the participants should be able to:

-understand the meaning and importance of coherence and cohesion
-use different kinds of cohesive devices, namely reference, conjunctions, and repetition
-identify problems of coherence and cohesion in written texts
-revise their own papers and fix problems of coherence and cohesion


Course #2: Promoting Research on Social Media

Time: 18:00 to 20:00 on Thursdays

Duration: February 24 to April 14 (with one additional session)

Online platform: Zoom

Course description: course introduces social media as an effective tool for the collective sharing of ideas via online communities, networks, and blogs. The project is relevant for researchers across disciplines since research findings are increasingly shared online. Social media can be a powerful tool for promoting research work and interacting with the research community.

Upon completion of the course, the participants should be able to:

-use various social media platforms for promoting their research outcomes
-familiarize themselves with their broader research community
-use language and tone appropriate to the audience
-communicate and promote their research outcomes on any given platform
-create concise and original posts on various social media platforms
-promote their social media accounts by including them in email signature, business cards, and presentation slides.
