Set Up Volunteer 6:00am–7:30am
This volunteer position will entail setting up tables, chairs, signage, sponsor banners , carrying boxes/materials to different areas on-site, loading water and supplies into the water station vehicles. Ability to lift up to 25lbs required.
On-Site Marshall Volunteer 7:00am - 11:00pm or 11:00am–2:00pm
As the On-Site Marshal for Ride Don’t Hide, your main goal is to ensure the safety of our riders as they leave and return to the ride site; ensuring that vehicular traffic inside the parking lot is diverted around the start/finish entrance and doesn’t impede riders.
On Route Support Volunteers (i.e: water table) 7:45am–1:30pm
Water Stations will be set up through-out the ride routes; each water station requires two volunteers. They will be responsible for providing all riders with water, preparing/handing cups of water to all runners/walkers, and placing cups in garbage. All water station volunteers will pick-up supplies at the event site (Upper Canada Mall) before heading to water station location. A vehicle is required by one of the two volunteers for each of the water stations. The vehicle will need to be a van/SUV in order to take table/ chairs and water to and from the site.. Please indicate on your application if you will be the vehicle owner/driver.
Mobile Riding Support (5KM, 20KM, or 60KM)
These volunteers will be riding their own bicycle and will be responsible for getting aid for riders who break down by contacting mechanical support and if first aid is required, contacting medical support. These volunteers need to have a cell phone and carry a first aid kit. Volunteers will connect with on-site staff to report estimated time of arrival of riders back to site.
Mobile Walk/Run Support (5KM)
These volunteers will be walking or running the route and will be responsible for getting aid for runners/walkers by contacting medical support. These volunteers need to have a cell phone and carry a first aid kit. Volunteers will connect with on-site staff to report estimated time of arrival of walkers/runners back to site.
On-Route Marshall Volunteer 7:45am–1:00pm
As the Route Marshal for Ride Don’t Hide, your main goal is to provide encouragement to participants along the route at designated areas and to help them keep to the route as designed. This position will be to ensure the safety of our riders/walkers/runners along the ride; alert participants of heavy traffic areas, hazards or changes on the route; stay at location until the last rider has passed you and the sweeper tells you to depart. Those on the 5KM route will stay at location until the last walker has passed you. These volunteers need a cell phone.
Cheerleader Volunteer 8:00am - 11am 0r 11am - 2:00pm
These volunteers will aid riders to get into line and cheer riders on as they cross the start line.
Media Volunteer Experience Volunteer 7:30am - 1pm
This volunteer is an aspiring photographer or videographer who enjoys taking pictures/videos and talking with people. We need you to help us capture the fun and energy of Ride Don’t Hide - as it happens - taking and posting photos of our participants and sponsors on Social Media. This is a great opportunity to use and further develop your skills in communications, public relations and social media.
Food Service Breakfast Volunteer 6:00am–10:30am
This volunteer position will be setting up food and beverages and serving breakfast to all identified riders and morning volunteers. These volunteers will ensure that garbage receptacles around food tents are emptied regularly and taken to large garbage bin.
Food Service Lunch Volunteer 10:30am–2:00pm
This volunteer position will be assisting with the BBQ and serving lunch to all identified riders and volunteers. These volunteers will ensure that garbage receptacles around food tents are emptied regularly and taken to large garbage bin. They will also be responsible for providing the BBQ cooks with frozen burgers from the on site food storage.
Registration 6:00am–11:00am
This volunteer position will be checking in registrants- registrants will be given an identification bracelet and swag bag and shirt. They will also be responsible for organizing shirts by gender and size.
Greeter Volunteer 7:00am–11:00am
This volunteer position will be greeting riders, volunteers and family/friends when they arrive onsite; answer questions and provide information as required. This position will also be cheering the riders/walkers/runners as they return from their route.
Break Down Volunteer (Clean up) 2:00pm–4:00pm
When all riders have returned this volunteer will help in the take down of all tent signs, tables, chairs, table cloths, load boxes and materials into cars/MOBYSS to take back to office, empty garbage receptacles and overall clean-up. Ability to lift 25lbs required.
