Illinois General Assembly SB1
As agreed upon by both sides of the aisle, education finance in Illinois is in need of reform - SB1 does just that- it reforms the distribution of education funding in our state while transitioning into an Evidence Based Model as required by the recently passed budget. This new formula has been in the works for over 20 years.

Unfortunately, in his personal vendetta against the City of Chicago and Democrats, Governor Rauner vetoed SB1 without providing an adequate replacement. Without a funding bill, schools will not receive appropriations and are at risk of not opening at the beginning of the school year.

We cannot allow the future of our children to be caught in political crossfire which is exactly what the Governor is doing!

The future of SB1 is uncertain and we need your help to launch a massive citizen lobbying campaign. Join us at the Niles Township Democratic Organization's headquarters, and participate in a phone bank urging constituents to call their State Representatives and demand an override of the Governor's veto!

A cell phone and a laptop are needed for participation, we will take care of everything else!
