Farr West Choir will be using the District app for communication. The phone number(s) you provide in the registration will be added to the Choir classroom on the app. ACCEPTING THE APP NOTIFICATIONS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT AND REQUIRED FOR YOUR CHILD TO BE IN CHOIR. See wsd.net/page/rooms-support for information. All responsible parties need to do this! If you are not signed up to receive notifications, you will not know what is going on! CHOIR T-SHIRT, required! We are using the red one with the blue microphone logo that we used last year. Please check and make sure the current one fits! T-shirts will be handed out in April prior to our first performance. This T-shirt will be worn at all performances this semester, including our parent performance at FHS! This concert has an Olympic theme! Please list any sports that your student loves to practice, or anything else that they have worked hard on to achieve (ex. chess, a science project, or a service project they've organized or helped with in a significant way)  *
SPECIAL PART AGREEMENT. We have special parts for 4-6 graders that are optional and require extra practices. They may choose up to two. These extra rehearsals are posted on the school website: 


Auditions are required, but each student who auditions WILL get a part. If your child will need to miss an audition for any reason, we need to be notified of this BEFOREHAND. If we are not informed by the time the audition starts, we unfortunately will have already finalized everything and your student will not be able to perform in that capacity. 

Only sign your student up if they can attend all performances and are dedicated to coming to all practices. IF YOUR CHILD DOESN'T COME TO PRACTICE, EVEN IN THE EVENT OF A PROLONGED ILLNESS, THEY MAY NOT GET TO DO THEIR SPECIAL PART if the group hasn't learned the material with that student in their spot. Thank you for your understanding! 

We do want to accommodate any child who is in an organization within the school, such as spirit squad or other leadership groups. We recognize that sometimes they have meetings during choir practice. We do still need to be notified beforehand if they will be missing so that we will know they are still participating.

There are only a few solo singing positions open. PLEASE UNDERSTAND IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT GET PICKED FOR A SOLO. They WILL get a special group singing part.

ARE YOU, AS THE CHOIR STUDENT'S GUARDIAN, INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING IN ANY CAPACITY? You are not required to pay for your student fee if you volunteer in a significant way! Also, if you have a 3rd grader who would like to participate, your involvement can allow them to attend. There are many options! Attendance in rehearsal and a music background are not required. On the flipside, if you are interested in learning the skill of a children's choir, we'd love to teach you! Or if you already have experience, we'd love your help and expertise! There is a meeting for anyone who might be interested in volunteering on Feb 3 at 8:45am in the cafeteria. You can still volunteer if you are not able to attend the volunteer meeting! Required
We're looking for flags with grommets from other countries that are at least 2'x3' that we can borrow and fasten to polls and use a decoration on stage. If you have one that we could borrow, please list the country here and size. We are also looking to borrow a large (maybe 6'x10'?) United States flag that we could hang from the stage rafters. Please let us know if you can help! Thank you!
FOR STUDENTS WITH TUMBLING OR STUNT EXPERIENCE who are auditioning for a special dance part, please indicate if you give permission for them to tumble or stunt in their dance. We are not tumbling teachers! We are choreographers and include opportunities for tumbling in our choreography. Students must be able to tumble on a gym floor and auditorium stage without a spotter and without mats and do so at their own risk. Signing your consent does not guarantee that your student will be given a tumbling part.
