CORVALLIS SCHOOL DISTRICT 509J Needs Assessment Survey
Message from Superintendent Ryan Noss
Let's Talk About Student Success!
The Student Success Act marks a turning point for education in Oregon. When fully implemented, our state will see an additional $1 billion investment in schools each year. This investment will provide new opportunities for every student in our state, particularly students who have been historically underserved.

The Student Success Act dedicates at least half of its funding to a newly established Student Investment Account that will be distributed as non-competitive grants to all Oregon school districts and eligible charter schools. Through the Student Investment Account, the Corvallis School District is expected to receive about $5 million per year starting with the 2020-21 school year to meet students’ mental and behavioral health needs, increase academic achievement, and reduce academic disparities for historically underserved students.

You have an important role to play. We need your input to help develop a plan to best meet the needs of our students and our community.
The Five Priority Areas
The next few questions will ask you to briefly share your thoughts about what is working well, what challenges you see, and what could be improved in the years ahead, regarding the top five priorities identified in the Student Success Act:

• Reducing academic disparities (gaps between outcomes for different student groups)
• Meeting students' mental or behavioral health needs
• Providing equitable access to academic courses
• Allowing staff time to collaborate, review data and develop strategies for students
• Establishing and strengthening partnerships
