Volunteer Today! Your Opportunity to Volunteer at the Special Olympics GB National Alpine Skiing Competition 1st-8th February 2020
We are delighted to give you the opportunity to volunteer at the Special Olympics GB National Alpine Skiing Competition which will take place in Crans Montana, Switzerland from 1st to 8th February 2020.

Special Olympics GB is the largest provider of a year-round, all ability, sports programme in Great Britain and supports over 10,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities on a continued basis.

It's going to be an amazing experience with over a hundred athletes with an intellectual disability from across Great Britain competing in the Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G events, watched and cheered on by their friends, families and supporters. And you could be there too!

During the week you will be part of the unique Special Olympics community and witness the joy of seeing the Athletes faces as they compete and the jubilation as they stand on the podium to receive their medals. The Opening Ceremony is emotional as the Athletes parade proudly Region by Region and take their oath for the week "Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt". The week is rounded off with the Closing Ceremony celebrations which everyone takes part in. Add this to the sunshine, snow and mountains and you have the perfect recipe for an excellent week (see selection of photo's from previous events on next page).

There are three main areas where we will need help:-

a) race course as marshals and helpers - requirement - to be able to ski
b) with the timing equipment and divisioning software - requirement - good IT skills but don't need to be able to ski
c) with the Athletes - requirement - in the morning to help unload the skis off the bus for the athletes and at lunchtime in the restaurant. Not required to be able to ski as the restaurant we are using is at the top of the gondola which comes up from the centre of town. We may need these helpers at other times to carry out ad-hoc duties as and when required.

Volunteers would be expected to pay their own way and will be staying in the same hotel as the supporters and families (unless you are already part of a team's delegation).

The accommodation cost for the week is £650 (bed and breakfast and dinner) in addition to that you will have the cost of your flights and transfers to/from Geneva. Flights and transfers can be arranged for you by the company doing the accommodation bookings.

If you would like to apply please complete the form below (which appears after the photo section). Once your application has been approved you will be sent the link for the booking form for the accommodation.

Volunteer today and help bring the magic of the Event to life!
