Music Lessons 2017
At DNI we offer a range of options for learning a musical instrument. It's time for us to start planning teachers and lessons for 2017. Could you please complete the following form in order to access music lessons before February 10, 2017. Most lessons take place during the school day. Please let us know if you require hardship funding to enable your child to attend music lessons. Please note, the prices listed are based on 2016 and it is possible they may change slightly.

Brass (trumpet, saxaphone, french horn, tuba etc)
Brass lessons are subsidised and cost $30 per term. You will need to supply an instrument. You may wish to buy one, or Beggs Music Works in Moray Place hire instruments and prices can be found here: http://www.musicworks.co.nz/instruments-to-hire/ Paul Claman, one of our tutors also hires a small number of instruments and requests can be made via the DNI school office.
Woodwind (clarinet and flute)
Woodwind lessons are subsidised and cost $30 a term (approx $3 a lesson). You will need to supply an instrument. You may wish to buy one, or Beggs Music Works in Moray Place hire instruments and prices can be found here: http://www.musicworks.co.nz/instruments-to-hire/ Another very affordable option is to purchase an instrument online from either Trademe or Lenker Music, the website for this music store is http://somusic.co.nz/ and Bb Clarinets are usually sold there for $150
Strings (violin, viola, cello and double bass)
Strings lessons are subsidised and cost $30 a term (approx $3 a lesson) You will need to supply an instrument. We have about 12 violins for hire at $50 per year (first in first served). Guitar
There are a couple of options here. There is a small charge for group lessons ($20 per term) and you will need to supply an instrument. Piano
There is a charge of between $20 and $27.50 per lesson (depending on the teacher).
Drums
There are a range of options, starting at $70 a term for group lessons, $10 for half hour lessons in pairs and $20 per individual lesson. Dylan Walker is our tutor Email: dylanmwalker@hotmail.com. Bevan Gardiner also teaches drums after school, he charges $25 for 30 minutes and $40 an hour, bevan377@hotmail.com.
Singing
Charlotte McKay (most recently Rizzo in Grease) has been teaching singing in 2016. She chargers $25 for a 30 minute session.
Orchestra
There is no charge for this and no minimum skill level, all comers welcome.
Choir
There is no charge for this and no experience required, all comers welcome.
Rockband
This requires a little experience. If you have been playing for a year or two and would like to try out for a rockband please indicate your interest here
Bagpipes
