YANovCon Teen Short Story Contest (ends 12/20/19)
Enter our Teen Short Story Contest for YANovCon (Young Adult Novelist Convention, January 25, 2020 at Millbrae Library) and you could win a one-on-one lunch and feedback with a published YA author. Stories can be realistic fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, dystopian, or whatever you come up with. This year we are asking you to create a short story where a character's academics or online interactions has MAJOR impacts on their life.

We understand that social media and academic pressure can create a lot of anxiety in middle and high school students. Many people come up with healthy and unhealthy techniques to handle this pressure. How might the characters in your story work through these issues?

Short Story Guidelines:
- Contest is open to 6-12th graders who reside in San Mateo County
- Submit your own original work of 500 words or less in any genre or style
- All submissions are due by December 20th, 2019

If you are under 13, please ask an adult to fill in this form for you.

Winners will be contacted on by January 10th, 2020 and will be offered the opportunity to read their stories publicly at YANovCon.
