Welcome to String Auditions! To audition for a violin, viola or cello lesson studio, begin by reviewing the information below, then complete the sections for name, level of study and instrument area. You will be given directions on how to sign up.
1. Audition slots are first come, first served, and fill up quickly.
2. Arrive for your audition a few minutes early, tuned and ready to play. 3. Wait outside the audition room to be called when it’s your turn.
4. During your 7-minute audition you will be asked to perform excerpts from two contrasting works, such as an études, sonata, concerto or anything else which best demonstrates your current skill level.
We’re pleased that you are interested in music here at Stanford and we look forward to seeing you at auditions.
Expectations for Private Lesson Studios
Private lessons require a minimum of 9 hours commitment per week regardless of the number of units for which you are registered. You will receive an email following the audition period. You can then enroll in your instructor’s section of MUSIC 174/274
All lessons are subject to grading requirements of the individual instructor.
Applied Music Scholarships must be applied for in the first three weeks of the quarter. See https://music.stanford.edu/FOMScholarship
**All participating students are now required to register for Department of Music ensembles and lessons. If you are unable to add units to your plan, request to enroll in the appropriate ZERO UNIT version of your course by contacting Rowen Leigh <firstname.lastname@example.org>. Zero-unit is by arrangement with instructor. A permission number is required.**
