Dance works by Karl Schaffer and the dancers of MoveSpeakSpin
The concert’s dances deal with themes currently roiling the American political landscape: battles over issues of diversity and the inclusion of women in mathematics and the sciences, imprisonment and maltreatment of those who dissent, the destruction of environmental safeguards as related to access to water, and war in the Middle East. In this new era of attacks on every principle of democracy and human rights, the performing arts help us see our path towards a world in which social justice thrives. Featuring thirteen dancers from Santa Cruz and the Bay Area.

“… Whimsical, celebratory, satirical, and thought-provoking…” – Dana Mackenzie

With special guest performance of
Uniform Convergence
Written and performed by  Corrine Yap
Juxtaposing the stories of two women trying to find their place in a white, male-dominated academic world, mathematician Corrine Yap’s one-woman play connects the struggles of 19th century Russian mathematician Sofia Kovalevskaya and a fictional Asian-American woman coping with the prejudice she faces in the present. The play has been performed throughout the United States.

“Phenomenally affecting, powerfully performed” – Vin de Silva
