The Organ Advocacy Initiative (OAI) is a multi-chapter, student-run club that has a mission to 1) raise awareness about organ and tissue donation on campus, and 2) educate our communities about the challenges facing organ donation and transplantation systems both in Canada and globally. Our club's main approach is to develop our Journalism Project, where we interview engaged stakeholders of organ donation/transplantation, then publish their stories to bring awareness.
In the 2017-18 academic year, OAI shared in-person interviews to uncover expert opinions, untold stories, and unique perspectives to achieve these aims. Led by a community of student journalists, we published interviews with the families of transplant recipients, a tissue donation coordinator, as well as an investigative journalist who helped make the documentary Tales from the Organ Trade into a reality (see: https://organadvocacy.com/blog/).
For the 2018-19 year, we have started a new chapter at Western University and are looking to recruit various executive members with a vision to advance our initiatives.
The deadline to apply for an executive position is Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 11:59pm. Select applicants will be scheduled for an online interview between October 8-12.
Thank you once again for your interest in our club, and we look forward to receiving your application!
