REMership Form
This form will make you an "official" REMer. It gives you a chance to tell us what your interests and talents are and helps us help you participate. It connects you to others who share your interests and provides opportunities for you to work with people making positive change in our community and our futures.
So what does it mean to be a REMer?
It's basically simple, a REMer:
* Believes in REM's work in our community.

* Wants to know what's happening in our community so they can be involved when they choose to do so. (REM sends info about REM activities (REMnews) and REM Partner news (REMnet Blast.)

* Provides updated contact information when there is a change and when they re-up each year.

* Considers membership renewal yearly with a gift to the REM Fund...anything from a "penny for your thoughts" to "infinity and beyond"! The amount is a donation, tax deductible and not to be considered a fee.

* Annually receives an email invitation to re-up. (Which gets us back to knowing who we are and staying connected to each other!)
Come join us! We need you! There are new ideas, new friends, new community building experiences that we hope you'll come to feel you need as well. Each person participates according to their passions and interests and will connect in their own way.
Please encourage every member of your family to create their own membership by having them fill out this form separately. Connecting children to community is very powerful for their futures.
A way for us to establish your unique REM identity is to use a REMerID. We use simple numbers. Please memorize your REMerID and use it with your name when a unique identity is required i.e. tracking volunteer hours, making a donation, registering for events, and renting REM spaces. When you submit this form a REMerID number will automatically be generated and sent to you via email.
REMerID
You don't actually have to fill this in. If all goes well and we're doing this right, it will automatically fill in on the spreadsheet created from this document.

REM's website at www.rem1.org reflects the diversity of the people building it. There's a lot there. For a deeper dive, we suggest clicking on "What is REM", the first menu item on the right under "Quick Links".

Orientation
The Team Builders Team would love to meet you and orient you to REM. That can be done at a private meeting or as part of a group meeting with other REMers seeking more information. Would you rather have a private meeting or a group meeting at REM? You are certainly welcome to have both and if you are unable to travel, you can attend a group or private remote meeting from your home using Skype or Facetime. Check all that apply.
At the REM sponsored Community Catalyst process in 1995 the community wrote their vision for the year 2020. REM refers to this as “The Dream”…thus, our tag line…”Catch the Dream.”
There were 8 prioritized objectives to meet this vision. (Notice the 8 hands in our logo.)
REM members (REMers) for 24 years have been creating REM Community Initiatives to meet these 8 objectives.
REM also created many support teams to allow the initiative teams to better focus on their missions.
You may work on one of the REM Community Initiatives or, you can share your talents, time and passion on one of the many teams supporting the initiatives.
The following survey will let us know how you might like to participate. REM is all about teams. The word "team" was purposely chosen to accent the desire to develop a strong and joyful team spirit in every group's endeavor.
Sharing with us your interests and talents will help us know where you would be most happy connecting to REM. It will also help us by providing the possibility of contacting you when we need help in an area of your interests and talents.
REM is basically divided into the three Divisions you see on the umbrella above. The REM Community Initiatives...the teams working on the 8 priorities of the Mid-Maine Strategic Vision for the year 2020, are the focus of REM.
The Custodial (Board, Financial Development, and Team Builders) and Operational (Party People) Divisions work solely to support the REM Initiatives by providing meeting and office spaces, supplies, policies, processes and procedures, office equipment and services, communication systems, and most important, Consensual Democracy.
Consensual Democracy: A democratic process for our civic sector of democracy, of the people and by the people, based on consensus building and the REM Agreements...a way of working together designed by the more than 5,000 people who have come to work in REM.
Every REM meeting and action is based on these agreements. All teams adopt these agreements and it is up to every team participant to practice them and assure that they are followed by all.
Your interests and your talents fueled by your passions are the power of REM. Your willingness to engage in this community via REM is important both for the community and for you. How you participate is totally up to you.
Most of the interests and talents listed here are organized by REM's team structure. When you submit this form your responses will be automatically recorded on a spreadsheet. Someone will contact you to welcome you and find out exactly how you'd like to participate.
The focus of all of the support teams of REM are the REM Community Initiatives. These are the dreams that we work together to catch. The teams of the Custodial and Operational Divisions of REM all work to support the REM Community Initiatives.

Every REM member decides what their Membership Donation will be. REM's goal is to have 600 "official" REM Members by January 1, 2021 which we believe will pay all operating expenses and safeguard REM's home. (Which would make REM sustainable and allow us to use all money raised by our fundraising events to fund REM Community Initiatives.)
You may make your member donation to the REM Fund by...
* Writing a check to REM and on the memo line of your check writing "REM Member Donation" and mailing to REM at 31 Temple Street, Waterville, ME 04901.
