T1D Researcher & Clinician Network
Diabetes Action Canada (CIHR Strategic Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) Network in chronic disease) is looking to create a digital community for those researching type-1 diabetes (T1D) in Canada. Our research network has a mandate to improve the lives of those living with diabetes and has created a research program to specifically address this needs of those with type-1 diabetes (T1D). Our Innovations in T1D Research Program, co-lead by Peter Senior, Bruce Perkins and Kate Farnsworth, works closely with people living with T1D (PLwT1D) to co-create research projects that address the unique challenges encounter by those living with T1D. We are investigating new technologies to enable connections and engagement with the T1D Community to facilitate clinical research initiatives across the country. We also enable connections with various research disciplines (i.e KT, Patient Engagement, Sex and Gender, Health Technology Assessment) to bolster research proposals, implementation, and knowledge dissemination.
We are currently in the process of reaching out to researchers and clinicians working in T1D to establish a professionals network. The goal of this network is to create a collaborative research consortium, interested in creating interdisciplinary research teams to design patient-oriented research projects and leverage new funding opportunities. We also wish to promote patient engagement in research to ensure that research outcomes are relevant and meaningful to the T1D Community. This survey is our initial step in getting the professional network established.
