CYC Advisory Board Interest

The CYC Sports Advisory Board is a group of volunteers who assist and advise the CYC Director and staff regarding the operations of CYC Sports programs, rules and policies.  This Board is representative of the Archdiocese of St Louis representing the athletic associations and the youth we serve.

The CYC Sports Advisory Board meets to discuss sport committee reports and all recommendations and proposals for changes in rules and policies.

The primary functions of the CYC Sports Advisory Board are:

  • To review and vote upon all major rule and policy changes that are presented by its standing and special committees, and individual members.
  • To assist, when necessary, at all special events.

  • To assist in providing the philosophical leadership of the program.

  • To assist in the review and enforcement of the general rules and code of conduct requirements as stated in this handbook.

A.      MEETINGS AND FUNCTIONS

Board meetings shall be scheduled and chaired by the CYC Director, and proper notice shall be given to all board members.

 The agenda for any meeting must be sent to all board members prior to the meeting, and board actions at said meeting shall be confined to items on the agenda.

B.      MEMBERSHIP, REMOVAL AND RESIGNATION

1. Membership on the CYC Sports Advisory Board shall be confined to persons who respect and do not contradict, in their work or by public or private example, the teachings, philosophy and ethics of the Archdiocese of St Louis.

2.      The Board, with the approval of the CYC Director, may remove a member who has been found to have acted in a way that does not uphold the values and expectations of CYC and the Archdiocese of St Louis or who has been absent without excuse from more than three consecutive board meetings.

3.     Any member may resign by giving written notice to the CYC Director.  The resignation shall be effective when the notice is given unless it specifies a later time.

C.      TERM OF OFFICE

Members of the CYC Sports Advisory Board shall hold office for a term of three (3) years, with staggered terms, and may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms. The Advisory Board will consist of between 7-9 members. 

D.      QUORUM

A quorum for the transaction of business of the CYC Sports Advisory Board shall consist of a majority of the members of the Advisory Board then serving.

No CYC Sports Advisory Board members may receive any remuneration for their services as a board member.
