Strategy Consultation

City of Sanctuary UK have undertaken a review of our previous strategy and have held a number of strategy development sessions and activities with staff, trustees, the advisory group and sanctuary ambassadors. We would now love to get feedback from as many individuals and organisations as possible given the breadth of our networks. We would also love to hear about what you feel we do well, what we could do better, where our priorities should be and what we might do differently in the future. This consultation shouldn't take more than 10minutes. Thank you for your time and support!

Areas of work

We are building a movement of welcome across the UK through:-

1. Promoting lived experience leadership and coproduction approaches

2. Supporting and building capacity of our network of affiliated groups and promoting partnership working with welcoming organisations

3. Embedding welcome within mainstream statutory and voluntary institutions through streams of sanctuary programmes and awards

4. Promoting a positive narrative of sanctuary and mobilising people to speak up for sanctuary

How should we prioritise our 4 areas of work? (listed above)

First being the top priority

Network Principles

We require all organisations involved in the City of Sanctuary movement to commit to a set of Network Principles (some of which are key components for movement building success).

Principles for members of our networks:

  1. Communicate a positive vision of welcome for all, speak up for sanctuary  and celebrate the contribution of people seeking sanctuary, as well as the welcome offered in local communities;

  2. Promote understanding of migration and racial justice issues, especially enabling the voices of people with lived experience to be heard directly;

  3. Ensure people seeking sanctuary are at the centre of everything we do, including in decision making, co-production processes and leadership;

  4. Create opportunities for connections, friendships and solidarity with people seeking sanctuary

  5. Commit to collaborative working and network development across the City of Sanctuary movement, and with other social justice movements where possible

Please do share any feedback you might have on these principles, including challenges organisations might have in working towards these principles
