Researchers from the University of Washington are designing an automated customized pedestrian routing app and visualized accessibility information on maps. We hope to help people find paths that are right for them in urban settings. We are also hoping to improve our understanding of mobility on the ground for different kinds of pedestrians. We place a specific focus on people with disabilities. We are looking for volunteers who would like to keep track of their trips using our app and to provide feedback to help us improve the design of the app and the way we customize routes to a user.
First, we would like to learn about your mobility (both individual ability and patterns of use) by inviting you to participate in a 5-min survey. You will not be compensated for completing this survey. If you are interested, we may invite you to try our app, keep track of your trips and provide feedback to us. Many of our studies are done using mobile phones and therefore, we will also ask about your mobile device use. If you choose to participate in trying the app and provide feedback, we will ask you for your contact information in order to contact you for further steps. For your further participation you may be compensated with an $80 Amazon gift card.
Thank you for spending your time telling us about your mobility experience. This survey should only take a few minutes. Your responses will remain anonymous unless you choose to provide us with your contact information.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact
uwtcat@uw.edu or call (206) 543-1021. If you would like to talk to someone separate from the research team about a concern or complaint or your rights as a possible research subject, please contact the University of Washington Institutional Review Board at (206) 543-0098. We cannot ensure the confidentiality of any information sent by email.
At the very end of this survey, we will ask if you wish to participate in further research about non-motorized mobility.
