Sponsored by Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA), this
FREE program for 4th-12th graders includes a visit to the LSU Center for River Studies and same-day, hands-on classes and programs at LASM. All activities are aligned with the Louisiana Student Standards for Science.
Your trip will take place at two locations and will include:
- Tour of the LSU Center for River Studies (100 Terrace Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70802) – Students will explore a 3-dimensional model of the lower 190 miles of the Mississippi River, one of the most technologically advanced models in existence.
- Hands-On Stream Table at LASM (100 River Road South, Baton Rouge LA, 70802) – Your students will collaboratively design solutions to real-world environmental challenges by engaging with a state-of-the-art stream table.
- Educational Movie at LASM – Your students will view a related, large-screen educational movie at LASM.
- Picnic Lunch at LASM - Feel free to store your lunches at LASM and picnic on our covered patio or at other locations near the Mississippi River levee.
